IIM Lucknow to Train Panchayat Representatives in Administration, Finance and AI
A significant Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Department and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. The MoU is aimed at empowering Panchayat representatives through advanced training in administration, financial management, and modern technologies, with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Under this initiative, a series of five-day training programs will be organized in multiple batches to equip representatives with practical knowledge and leadership skills.
The signing ceremony, on Monday, was attended by the Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Om Prakash Rajbhar, Principal Secretary Panchayati Raj Shri Anil Kumar, Director Panchayati Raj Shri Amit Kumar Singh, and Professor Madhumita Chakravarty, Chairperson, Management Development Program, IIM Lucknow.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri Om Prakash Rajbhar said, “This initiative is truly commendable. For the Panchayati Raj Department to collaborate with a premier institution like IIM Lucknow is a significant step. I congratulate Principal Secretary Shri Anil Kumar and Director Shri Amit Kumar Singh for this visionary effort. I am confident that this training program will bring about transformative changes at the Panchayat level.”

Principal Secretary Shri Anil Kumar remarked, “Through this MoU, Panchayat representatives will receive training in leadership, transparency, and financial management. Our aim is to make the implementation of schemes at the Panchayat level more effective and transparent. With the support of a prestigious institution like IIM Lucknow, this initiative will benefit the entire state. The experiences of trained representatives will also serve as a valuable resource for the future.”

Director Shri Amit Kumar Singh added, “Panchayats are the strongest pillars of democracy. This MoU is a major step towards integrating them with modern technologies and management practices. It will help Panchayat representatives enhance their decision-making skills, resource management capabilities, and understanding of AI-driven tools. We believe this collaboration will position Uttar Pradesh’s Panchayats as role models for the country.”

Professor Madhumita Chakravarty from IIM Lucknow stated, “For us, this MoU is an important opportunity. IIM Lucknow has always been committed to driving positive change in society and governance. By training Panchayat representatives, we will contribute to strengthening grassroots governance and fostering innovation.”
This MoU marks a milestone in preparing Panchayats to meet future challenges while empowering representatives with administrative, financial, and technological competencies.
